Prince Harry and Meghan Markle spend US$9,500 a day on private security

The royal couple Prince Harry and Meghan Markle signed a contract with a specialized luxury private security company, whose values are US$9,500 per day of service.

Queen Elizabeth II’s Platinum Jubilee was one of the most talked-about topics in the world, and major events marked the monarch’s 70th birthday celebrations. Yet, another subject that involves the royal family is the security services chosen by Prince Harry and actress Meghan Markle.

Following the Sussexes’ decision to quit the royal duties in 2020, Harry and Meghan lost their royal patronages and honorary military titles, but also the aid they had from the British police. In the same year, the couple moved to Canada, but the country refused to bear the security costs for the Duke and Duchess at the time.

The couple relocated to Montecito in California, where they live with their two children Archie, 3, and Lilibet, 1, and signed a contract with a specialized company whose values are US$9500 per day of service.

Mark Pugachev, CEO of California’s leading luxury private security company says the choice was right. Despite the remoteness, they belong to the royal family, and the risks of kidnappings, robberies, attacks, and other highly violent situations are real, and the probability is high.

Pugachev also clarifies that “we have a confidentiality agreement like any other company. Many famous people don’t want their names publicized. So, we must operate secretly and discreetly. Our guards also receive training and ethical guidelines they must follow with all customers, without exception”, he reports.

Harry and Meghan think in the same way as countless celebrities. Rihanna, Lady Gaga, Harry Styles and Angelina Jolie do not dispense with these services and cherish the protection of their families. The Queen of Pop, Beyoncé, for example, invests about US$4 million a year in security services.
