In February 1958, the King of Rock’n’Roll, Elvis Presley, met for the first time with the stunning actress Sophia Loren. It was at Paramount Studios, where Elvis was filming “King Creole”. Photographer Bob Willoughby happened to be there and took some memorable shots of Sophia and Elvis. As Bob Willoughby recalls, Loren spotted 23-year-old Presley having lunch in the Paramount commissary and decided to introduce herself to him. She promptly sat in his lap and kissed him. He didn’t mind.” I bet you wish they would stop screaming” said the beautiful Italian actress. “Never” answered Elvis.
Another legendary meeting happened in 1945 with the Spanish painter Salvador Dali and the famous director and producer of film and animation Walt Disney. Both were planning to collaborate at the animated short film “Destino”. The production initially began in 1945, but it was completed only 58 years later, by the Walt Disney Company in 2003.
First steps in the modern beauty industry were taken in 1935. Back then the beautician Max Factor (1872 -1938) developed the beauty micrometre. The device was designed to identify the areas of a person’s face, which needed adjustments using make-up. The Polish businessman and founder of cosmetics giant Max Factor & Company was also the one who popularized the term make-up.

“Alice’s Adventures in Wonderland” started from a real story. Alice Lindell (1852 – 1934) was the one who inspired author Lewis Carroll to write the book when she asked him to tell her a story while they were on a boating trip in Oxford, England.
