In a double event, Romanian Cultural Institute New York will present a solo exhibition of paintings and fashion by artist Alexandra Popescu-York. The well-known Romanian designer and artist will present her latest oversized paintings, steeped in Romanian and Art Deco inspiration, at RCI NY in the lobby and at the Auditorium Hall on March 27, at 7 pm.

Alexandra’s work distinguish itself through arts, painting and fashion design. Her dresses are not only inspired by famous Romanian paintings, but by important international works. Most recently, she presented both her latest fashion collection and her paintings at Couture Fashion Week New York on February 15, alongside 20 other international designers. She introduced her new collection, “Âme de l’artiste” (“Artists’ Soul”), at the famous Ballroom of Crowne Plaza in Times Square.
From Romania to United States of America
Alexandra Popescu-York, born and raised in Bucharest, earned her degree in Decorative Arts and Design from the University of Fine Arts “Nicolae Grigorescu” in Bucharest. She has lived in New York for the past 10 years, where she attended the Fashion Institute of Technology and worked for American fashion houses. All along, she never gave up her passion for painting and has been exhibiting in New York since 2008.
